Talking to another photographer about our favorite wedding venues to shoot at, and I asked her "if you could only shoot at one kind of wedding venue for the rest of your career, what would it be? Barn weddings? Super fancy?..." (she chose small backyard ones, by the way.) As we're talking, I realized that I couldn't answer my own question. I don't have a favorite type of wedding venue. I've loved barn weddings, and fancy weddings, and conservatory weddings, and concert hall weddings...none top the others on location. What I do have is a favorite type of wedding, period. Those are the ones where the couple is unique and their wedding truly represents who they are. Where their sense of personal style is apparent and you can literally feel the love seeping out of everyone. Of course there are wedding venues that make our jobs easier and more inspiring, but my favorite weddings are the ones where the couple is just so freaking awesome and perfect for each other that I'm just as excited as all their guests. That is what makes me love my job, so those are the kind of weddings I hope to shoot for the rest of my career.
