a dexter Michigan sweetheart session at cottonwood barn
Years ago, Dayna, of Dayna Mae Photography, and I met on the first day of the semester about halfway through photography school. We made the (unknown-to-us at the time) best decision ever when we sat next to each other in a class. The realization that we had the same name, though spelled differently, was a fun way begin our seat-neighbor friendship. A few weeks later when we stumbled upon the fact that we also have the same middle name...well, we were definitely bonded. Since then, our friendship has grown into something I just couldn't imagine living without.
The last few years have come with a lot of twists and turns and I am beyond grateful to have had her as my sounding board, scrapbooking buddy, frustrations soother, all-night editing partner, top-notch advice giver, and constant support system. She also didn't pretend to not know me when I was acting like a monkey while lifting weights at the gym. Now thats a good friend.
Having a friend so close that is also in the photography business is as amazing as it is uncommon. I have no idea why it took us so long to trade shoots together but we made the decision to do just that this fall and I'm so happy we did. Not only did I get to spend time with her and her awesome hubby, Matt, we had a beautiful fall day and got to shoot at the gorgeous new Cottonwood Barn in Dexter, MI. Also, the fact that they are absolutely PERFECT for each other and it shows in photographs.....yeah, that didn't hurt. I had a great time shooting their sweetheart session and I look forward to years to come of these two in my life.
